Dropout Prevention has been the main goal of the Partnership with Business Project at Uintah High School in Vernal, Utah. The Vernal economy has a very flurousing economy that entices high school students to work in the oil field for very large amounts of money. Unfortunately, these conditions will not be permanent, the the Uintah FBLA Chapter has banded together to promote education and specific career fields.
Partnering with a medical center, law enforcement agency, local bank, and educators, there have been luncheons held catered towards the specific interests of students. The turnouts have been outstanding, and the students have really enjoyed learning about the career opportunities that best suit them. The final part of the project was a dinner and game night. Over thirty students came to play the jeopardy style game with questions from the education, banking and finance, and law enforcement field. It was a lot of fun, and one student even remarked, 'I didn't know there was so much that I didn't know, but I am excited to pursue a career in banking and finance!'
