Feature Title: Franklin Parish High School FBLA Attends
Feature Summary: The 60th Louisiana Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference was hosted in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on March 30 – April 1, 2008.
Leader Feature: The 60th Louisiana Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference was hosted in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on March 30 – April 1, 2008. 
The State Leadership Conference brought outstanding young adults together for an unforgettable experience of FBLA enthusiasm. This year, over 1,700 students, advisers, and guests participated in this conference.

FBLA members from all areas of the state gathered in Baton Rouge at the Holiday Inn Select to attend workshops and two delegate assemblies, elect their new State Leadership Team, and compete in competitive events such as Accounting, Desktop Publishing, Banking & Financial Systems, Business Ethics, Website Development, Cyber Security, Network Design, Spreadsheet Applications, and Entrepreneurship at the state level. In most  competitive events, the first- and second-place winners will be advancing to the FBLA National Leadership
Conference that will be hosted in Atlanta, Georgia from June 26-29, 2008. 

The keynote speaker this year was Patty Hendrickson.  A full-time professional speaker, Ms Hendrickson is an expert in leadership development and works with
organizations that want to grow leaders.

Our local chapter, Franklin Parish High sent 25 members to represent our school.  A highlight for our school was the installation of Kenny Blackson as
Louisiana FBLA’s new state president for the 2008-2009 school year.  Derek Newman, local chapter president, was recognized as the October Member of the
Month for Louisiana FBLA.  Chapter Awards included State Project Recognition, Largest Chapter Membership – 5th Place, Louisiana Foundation Award – 9th Place,
and Gold Seal Chapter of Merit Award – 2nd Place.  Local members who placed at state and are eligible to represent the Louisiana FBLA Chapter  at the FBLA
National Leadership Conference include:

Digital Video Project; Dani Martin and Emily Roberts – 1st Place – Community Service Project;

and Ryan Parks.
