Can FBLA members compete in more than one event in Atlanta?
FBLA members are allowed to compete in one chapter event and one individual or team event at the National Leadership Conference. The state guidelines may differ, so please check your state Web site or your state handbook.
I was a member of FBLA in high school, and now I want to know how I can become a member while in college since my school does not have Phi Beta Lambda?
Glad to see that you are interested continuing your FBLA-PBL involvement in college. On the national site, under "Join," click the "PBL" right below it. This will provide you with a form to request a Chapter Organization Packet, or COP. You will then be directed to a page to download the COP, and included is more information on how to complete the form and what other information is necessary. So how easy is it to start a PBL chapter once you have your COP? Very! All it takes is three members, and a faculty adviser. You will also be required to pay a $20.00 activation fee, which you can easily cover with local chapter dues. Additionally, you will need chapter bylaws. Suggested chapter bylaws may be found in the document library. After you have completed those steps, mail in all of the above information to the address provided. You will be contacted soon thereafter if you are missing information, or otherwise you will receive your official charter. Good luck! If you have any questions along the way, do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you. Just remember that starting a chapter is a really great way of demonstrating YOUR Leadership in Action! (response by Evan A. Lemoine, PBL National Parliamentarian)
How many competitive events may PBL members participate in at the NLC?
At the national level, PBL members may compete in any two events, whether they are team events, individual, or chapter events. However, at the state level it may differ so you must check your state handbook, state Web site, or with the state key contact.
