Midland Lutheran College's PBLTeam Partners with Community Sponsors to Present: Please Feed My Piggy Pennies

Midland Lutheran College’s Phi Beta Lambda-Students In Free Enterprise (PBL-SIFE) team is striving to reach new heights for the 2007-2008 academic school year. Working together as a team, PBL-SIFE students applied their classroom experiences to develop and implement educational outreach programs through the principles of market economics, success skills, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business ethics.

The MLC PBL-SIFE team partnered with U.S. Bank, Bank of the West, Fremont First Federal Credit Union, First National Bank of Northeast, First State Bank, TierOne, and Fremont National Bank to present Please Feed My Piggy Pennies. This project was designed to inspire the youth of today to save for tomorrow. The MLC PBL-SIFE worked with the first graders of Bell Field, Clarmar, Grant, Howard, Linden, Milliken Park, Platteville, Trinity Lutheran and Washington elementary schools to present Please Feed My Piggy Pennies. The PBL-SIFE team taught elementary school students the importance of saving money at an early age. After reading a story about saving or spending money, the children discussed the value of saving. Then, each student was provided with a piggy bank and a roll of pennies. The Midland PBL-SIFE members helped the students count their money as they place it into their banks for future savings.
