Tallwood High School and Junior Achievement join together to make soles, literally

In January 2008, Tallwood’s FBLA club members got together with Jr. Achievement to build a real company. This experience is teaching members many aspects of running a business from the bottom up.

From day one everybody realized that running a corporation would be a very meticulous task to accomplish. They learned that teamwork and patience would be needed in order for the company to be successful. It all began with the election of board members. It was hard to choose between friends and people who were right for the job, but in the end everyone felt that good choices were made.

After the Board of Officers was selected, a product had to be decided upon. After many great ideals, we managed to narrow our selection down to selling shoes and tote bags. Shoes ended up being the product of choice.

Finally, a company name had to be chosen.  Many ideas were considered, and eventually everybody decided that Lion’s Sole was the best name. The lion is Tallwood’s mascot, and sole is a play on words that reflected the product.

Lion’s Sole is still in the beginning phases of company development, but hopefully Tallwood will find success with their newly created business.
