Phi Beta Lambda Competes at State Leadership Conference
The UNL chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) recently competed at the Nebraska PBL State Leadership Conference in Kearney, Nebraska. Focusing on bringing business and education together through innovative leadership and career development programs, PBL is a business organization of over 11,000 college students. At the state conference, members compete in a variety of events, including job interview, marketing, accounting, computer programming, and impromptu speaking, among others. Members were also able to attend informative workshops and help with the campaign and election process for state officers.
UNL was represented at the conference by 20 members, who combined for 65 competitive event awards. UNL PBL also received four chapter awards and had two members chosen as state officers for the 2008-2009 year. Based on the performance at the state conference, the state of Nebraska will send two members to compete on the national level in each event. Approximately 12 members will represent UNL at the PBL National Leadership Conference in Atlanta this summer. These members will go head to head against members from all over the country in business and technology events, attend leadership workshops, and have the opportunity to network with other students and businesses.
