South High FBLA rolls out red carpet
Lights! Camera! Action! It was Emmy Night at South Hagerstown High School (South High) in Maryland on Oct. 10, when the South High FBLA held its annual fall Awards Night Celebration. The evening was complete with the star-studded members Kelly Carson and Stephanie Edwards serving as the emcees for the ceremony.
State Historian Nick Ziolkowski brought greetings from Maryland FBLA. Ziolkowski also serves as South High’s co-vice president and is a member of the Academy of Finance (AOF).
Myra Newbraugh and C. JoAnne Knode officially installed the local officers. certificates and emmys were presented to the 2007–08 officers. President Joe Bender then inducted the members of South High FBLA.
An emmy and certificate of appreciation was presented to Sharon Chirgott, AOF coordinator; Laurie Bender, Washington County Hospital and AOF board member; Rick Ziolkowski, Citi and AOF board member; Ronnie Brezler, Centra Bank and AOF board member; Richard Akers, South High principal; and George Phillips, career and technology supervisor. Professional membership certificates and emmys were presented to FBLA and AOF advisers Myra Newbraugh and C. JoAnne Knode.
Highlights of upcoming events for South High FBLA and the AOF include: Six Flags “Fright Fest” scheduled for Friday, Oct. 26; officer training at the Fall Leadership Conference, Ocean City, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1; field trip to the Technology Center and Hagerstown Community College.
