Principal kisses pig, chapter raises money for March of Dimes

On Nov. 15, Alburnett High School FBLA in Iowa organized the annual Purple-n-Gold Night. There are many things that happen on this night: winter sports team introductions, POMS performance, cheerleaders performance, check presentation to Children’s Miracle Network from 2007 Dance-A-Thon of $10,029.24, student run contest including a three-point basketball contest and dunk contest, girls basketball scrimmage, and boys basketball scrimmage.

During the two weeks prior to Nov. 15, FBLA students gave Alburnett High School students a chance to have a teacher or administrator kiss-a-pig on Nov. 15. FBLA members asked teachers and administrators if they would participate then made a jar for each teacher and administrator that agreed to participate. During fifth hour, FBLA students volunteered to sit with the jars and Alburnett High School students could drop their change in the jar of their choice. Nearly $75.00 was donated to March of Dimes.

On the evening of Nov. 15, FBLA collected money until 7 p.m., 15 minutes before the actual pig kissing took place. Alburnett Principal Tom Stewart was the winner.
