Bismarck PBL off to a busy start

Bismarck State College (BSC) PBL in North Dakota has had an exciting and busy year. Members participated in the Club and Organization Fair at the College in September. This provided PBL members an opportunity to inform the BSC students about PBL and recruit some new members as well.

Also in September, several PBL members became involved with creating a BSC float for the annual Bismarck fall parade. PBL members joined forces with other student organizations on campus for the design of the float and participated in the event.

In October, members organized and held a Wonder Walk for the March of Dimes on the BSC Campus. The goals were to create awareness for the organization and to raise some money for MOD. The goal of $1,000 for March of Dimes was met. Activities included the Wonder Walk as well as selling March of Dimes bears on Premature Baby Awareness Day.

Several PBL members also participated in a phone-a-thon to contact BSC Alumni for the BSC Foundation Office membership drive in October. The BSC Foundation offers grant and scholarship opportunities for BSC students.

In November, the BSC chapter also set up a table near the admissions office on campus for American Enterprise Week. Literature about PBL was available so that the students and faculty on campus would have the opportunity to see what PBL is about.

The Bismarck State College PBL chapter has been working on the PBL Career and Membership Achievement Program. Several members completed the Director Level this semester, and some members have their sights set on finishing the other two levels during the spring semester.
